Treasure Maps to the Soul is the collaborative creation of Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin, and the retreats are only taught by both teachers together. Since 1994 we have been teaching this material around the world. These workshops are only open to people who have already learned Focusing and listening. The more Focusing and listening you have practiced, the more you will get out of a Treasure Maps to the Soul retreat. Participant numbers range from 15-35, and numbers are limited due to space limitations.
The four Powers are the heart of the Treasure Maps work. It is through learning the Powers that you will be able to continue working with difficult areas in your life after you go home. We will demonstrate, and then you will be working in pairs, using our protocols to support your process. After each paired session you’ll return to the whole group to share what you learned and ask questions. Guided by our models of the roots of trauma and the structure of inner conflict, you will be ready to engage more fully with the tangled and stuck aspects of your issue. The week is structured as a journey into deeper and deeper contact with yourself.
We also have fun. If you thought that deep work was all heavy and serious, think again. Deep inner work needs lightness, so we don't get sunk in it. Playfulness is an essential component of our workshops. Skits illustrate our teaching — our hammy acting is something to behold. And there are opportunities for you to get in on the act as well.
You will receive detailed handouts of more than 70 pages, which are not available any other way. Included in these handouts are “protocols,” which are specific guided processes for working with each difficult area, with yourself or with others.
More than just theory, this workshop shows you, step by step, how to build the practical skills we call the Powers. Expect to be deeply changed, both by the workshop itself and by the resources you take home.
Upcoming Treasure Maps to the Soul Retreats
We are careful to find comfortable and beautiful places in which to hold our workshops. There are no-interest payment plans available so that you can spread your payment out over a year if necessary; the first payment needs to be received by the early registration date for you to receive the discount.
We offer only a few Treasure Maps to the Soul retreats each year. Currently planned retreats include:
• August 31 - September 6, 2008:
Castello di Spannocchia
Tuscany, Italy
>> For information about this retreat in Italian, click here
Castello di Spannocchia is an educational center, wildlife preserve and working historical farm -- a truly rural setting situated close to Sienna in the pastoral Tuscan hills. Guests are encouraged to gather on the Villa terrace or by the pool to enjoy the warmth of the southern exposure and the wonderful views. The property has farm roads and hiking trails that can be explored and a little further afield is the 10th century monastery of Santa Lucia located near the bank of the Rosia river. We will be having leisurely evenings beginning with wine on the terrace before a three course dinner. This is our third time back – we love this place!

Miramar Retreat Center
Duxbury, Massachusetts
Miramar Retreat Center is located in the charming seaside town of Duxbury, MA, some 35 miles south of Boston and 20 miles north of Cape Cod. This historic ship owner’s estate, overlooking Kingston Bay, is surrounded by rolling lawns, magnificent gardens and pristine views of sky and sea. The house, with its history of a bygone era, blends the old with a contemporary updated bedroom wing, dining room and conference hall added in the early 1980’s. The colonial style structure features many antique fireplaces along with a blend of different types of wood, imported from all over the world in the late 19th century for use in the floors and paneling. A modern kitchen, run by professional chefs, provides appetizing meals for all.
