Treasure Maps Phone Groups
with Ann Weiser Cornell & Barbara McGavin

What People Say:

”The theoretical framework that you offer in Treasure Maps adds so much depth and freedom to my Focusing, both as a Focuser and as a Companion. This sense of freedom comes because the ability to recognize dynamics and territories that you nurture in us, allows me to relax in the Focusing process, to trust it, and myself in it, so much more. In that trust, I can be organically responsive to the process and to my partner; I can be present with a sense of calm freedom, a grounded courage to accept what comes. Having practiced the Treasure Map Focusing at the workshop I feel like I can finally dance in the Focusing process, and not simply happen haphazardly upon the figures of the dance. But more than that I want to say that Treasure Map is to focusing what Focusing is to life! And I so much appreciate Ann and Barbara’s ability to create safety and listening among the whole group, and your wonderful sense of humor.”
– Francesca Castaldi, Oakland CA"

What Will Happen

The topic of the next series is the third “Power,” Not-Wanting and Wanting. The Not-Wanting/Wanting process is not a technique but a deeply transformative way of being. Let’s find out more about how we can cultivate this level of change process in ourselves.

In these three class meetings, with demonstrations, discussions, and guided exercises, we will be investigating/sensing into the following topics:

Starting with a situation that feels stuck or unsatisfying, or a feeling of “stuck” or “unsatisfied,” what is meant by saying that there is a knowing of what is missing?
How does true change happen? How do we create the conditions that allow transformation to occur?
What is true change?
Can we sense how analyzing the problem or falling into our emotions are both just another instance of the problem itself?
Is it clear that the familiar thoughts and emotions we have about the situation arise in reaction to the situation rather than being a sense of the situation.
And how just being with our emotions, however kindly, is not what brings transformation? It can feel so much better than before but it is not the difference that makes the difference.
How does Not-Wanting help us go toward Wanting?
How do we know when we have sensed as deeply into what is Not-Wanted and Wanted as is needed?
What is the relationship between our Wanting and Gendlin’s “implying”?

You’ll be invited to follow along in the exercises with a situation that feels stuck in your own life, especially one that has been resistant to change.

There will be an online Forum for this class so that discussion can take place between meetings.
