Here's what four people who took Teaching Focusing to Groups were saying 8 months later: |
 |

"I also wanted to thank you again for your wonderful guide books. They are the best! So clear. I really ‘got’ Focusing from them and have been using it almost every day on myself and with great success with my friends and bodywork clients. I have been many times moved to tears at the relief I have seen in people’s faces when they ‘grok’ the simplicity and power of this process that you have so beautifully articulated. Just today I worked with someone for the first time who had been under such enormous stress that her family had forced her into a mental hospital for almost a week some months back. She is a very intelligent woman and that was just a horrible experience for her. When she looked up after her first Focusing experience there was such peace on her face. She said, ‘If I had known about this before I would never have had to experience that hospital.’
Understanding this work is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received.”

“Ann, thank you so much for facilitating this conversation. I felt
immediately at home with the types of issues that each person brought. This forum will be very helpful for me as I start
my coaching practice. It was very validating to me to see how much I
actually have integrated Focusing from a conceptual standpoint. I want to push it
even further and explore how and when to actually have the client do a
little bit of Focusing with me, such as sensing into a feeling. I feel
excited by the potential by all of this and also validated by the
comments of the others in the group that this is a fertile area to
explore and develop.
It is also helpful to hear the struggles, doubts, fears, issues
of other professionals and I don't feel so alone or that something is
wrong with me. Hearing their comments helped me (that scared part of
me) to feel more confident as I stretch out my own wings and
contemplate flying!”

This workshop is much more than a guide to teach Focusing to groups: it
is a full-fledged course on how to develop our own Focusing teaching program,
following our unique strengths and interests. Ann meaningfully addresses
the following issues: how to structure a long term teaching Focusing plan;
how to market a workshop and our Focusing practice; and how to teach an
introductory Focusing workshop, paying particular attention to clarity,
safety, and group dynamics. Ann's capacity to offer practical and technical
information while attending in a Focusing way to each participant's growth
steps in the practice and teaching of Focusing is a wonderful and powerful
gift. I entered the workshop as a trainer-in-training, and I left with a
strong momentum to finish my certification program. Finishing the certification
felt like one flowing movement out of the process initiated in Ann's workshop.
Since then I have returned to the Teacher's manual again and again, as a
resource that is helping me move forward with my teaching and the steps
to set up my own Focusing practice. I want to say that this is the most
useful and wonderful of Ann's workshops, yet I do want to say that of each
of the courses I take with Ann.

I can't say enough good things about Ann's "Teaching Focusing to Groups"
workshop in helping me actualize myself as a Focusing Teacher. Eight months
after taking it, the work there continues to function as a huge "life
forward" step for me. Her manual is subtitled "a total support package"
and it certainly is! I've benefitted personally and professionally from
Ann's generous sharing of her knowledge and experience, and the cohort formed
during that workshop continues to meet monthly by phone for ongoing support
and sharing. I'm attending the weeklong certification workshop this November,
and will teach a Level One Focusing workshop through my local community
college community education program next quarter. Ann's workshop was integral
in giving me the confidence to proceed.

Ann's workshop on teaching teachers was supportive, encouraging and jam
packed with useful information. More than learning to teach Focusing, this
workshop has helped guide me to developing marketing materials and the self-confidence
to promote myself as a Focusing Oriented Psychotherapist and Focusing teacher.
Ann has been an invaluable resource for me as I reorient my business and
develop my skills and marketing materials. For me it was a pivotal and life
changing workshop!

The Teaching Focusing to Groups workshop/seminar gave me a wealth of information
and continues to spark ideas for me as I refer to the Teacher's Manual supplied
with the course. Like no one else I encounter, Ann is happy to give away
all her hard earned business and teaching methods, carefully documenting
them in the manual and discussing them with the group. She obviously wants
us all out there spreading Focusing in the world.
