Focusing Level One:

Encountering the Inner Relationship

What People Say:

”Learning to listen in this particular way is perhaps the most beautiful thing I have ever learnt. To be able to watch the organic process as things resolve of their own accord and to experience the freedom that comes with this process is truly a gift. The implications appear to me astonishing for individuals and the world.”
– Jo Kennedy, Melbourne Australia

”I want to say a special thanks for your teaching of Level One and tell you that I am self Focusing and finding it very helpful. As well, I am making contact with some others to focus in partnership between classes.”
– Nancy Eaton, body-oriented therapist, Harwich MA

"I liked the class. I wanted an experience of Focusing and I got it. I learned to Focus, to self-guide, and to listen. I appreciated the easy rhythm and atmosphere. You created a good atmosphere in which we were encouraged to allow.”
– A.P.

“In my first level one training with Ann, I really had an easy time learning how to do the Focusing process. Ann has really figured out how to teach this inner process in a very clear and empowering way. It’s a pleasure to feel confident while learning a new skill. Ann’s training program goes beyond the workshop, too, and gives structure to ongoing learning and support with various levels from free to taking another training, but you don’t have to keep spending lots of money to learn Focusing – it is wonderful.”
– N.W.

“I thought you were magnificent...you have a unique way of putting across what is so difficult to express in words... and you provide a nice safe climate. I hope to take Part 2 soon...”
– B.S.

Do you want to be more deeply connected with yourself?
Would you like to know how you feel and want in any situation?
Do you want to become a compassionate listener to yourself... and others?
Would you like a way to sort out emotional reactions so they make sense and release?
Are you seeking a way to live more fully in the present?
And do you want to do all this by learning a skill that you can use over and over with all the issues of your life?

Ann Weiser Cornell says:
Before I encountered Focusing, it was hard for me to know how I felt. When people asked me, I said “fine.” My inner life was in turmoil but I didn't know how to access what I really knew about what I needed.

When I began to learn Focusing, a whole world of richness opened up for me, as I began to discover my own feelings, reactions, and needs.

Focusing is a simple process but because it is so revolutionary it really needs support to learn and practice. That's why I've devoted my life to teaching the skill I’ve learned to love.

About Level One

Focusing Level One is the first of four courses in the complete Focusing Training Program. | more |

In Focusing Level One, you receive training, support, and practice in the basic skills of Focusing: being in Presence with your feelings, finding a bodily felt sense about your issues and concerns, acknowledging and staying with your felt senses in such a way that they offer information and release. You also learn and practice the first skills of Focusing partnership: an open, empathic listening presence that allows the other person’s process to move forward.

You will receive The Focusing Student’s and Companion’s Manual, Part One, as well as special cue cards to support the exercises we will do.

The teaching is a mixture of explanation, demonstration, and practice, with ample opportunity for you to ask questions and get support. There is almost always at least one assistant teacher, and class sizes are small, usually no more than 12.

Our whole purpose is to help you learn Focusing for yourself in your own way.

Prerequisite:

You must have had at least one individual session with any Focusing teacher prior to attending this workshop.

Formats

Focusing Level One is taught as a five-week telecourse.
