We're delighted to announce that John Amodeo is going to be our special guest at this Community Gathering. John is well-known in the worldwide Focusing community for his gentle presence and his excellent work on Focusing and relationships. His article "A Focusing Approach to Couples Therapy" is about to appear in Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapies. He says he'll guide us through some experiential exercises on Focusing and intimacy!

John AmodeoFocusing and the Path of Intimacy
with John Amodeo, Ph.D.

Have you ever considered that at the very heart of Focusing lies a key to the deeper love and intimacy for which we long? Focusing is a path that enables us to be intimate with ourselves. Such intimacy provides an essential foundation for intimate connection and communication with others. Being more deeply connected to our own body, heart, and being, we are available to make authentic contact with others. This presentation will address how Focusing fosters mature love and intimacy, as well as discuss a Focusing-oriented approach to couples therapy.

John Amodeo, Ph.D. is author of The Authentic Heart and Love & Betrayal, and co-author of Being Intimate, which explores the connection between Focusing and intimacy. He is a psychotherapist and adjunct faculty member of the Institute of Imaginal Studies. He has been immersed in the connection between Focusing, intimacy, and spirituality for over 25 years.

Open to everyone!
Bring your friends and family, no experience necessary. This may be their chance to get excited about Focusing!

After the featured presentation and our practice and discussions there will be a time of announcements, including forming new Changes groups and asking for Focusing partners...

If we have enough people interested, a "new people's group" will convene to answer the questions of those encountering Focusing for the first time.

Please read our special request about arriving fragrance free.

Getting There...
6112 Harwood Avenue is east off College Avenue, a few blocks south of Claremont and north of the Rockridge BART in Oakland. In fact we suggest taking the BART or the 51 bus since parking is tough around there. (Lots of room to safely lock bicycles as well...)
