How Does a Session Work?

How Does a Session Work?

Most people have their guided Focusing sessions by phone. You’ll be able to book your session online, and choose a time and day that works for you.

You can bring to the session any life issue where you would like to experience change, including feeling blocked, feeling unworthy, emotional distress, the longing to move forward with your life, wanting a greater connection with body knowing.

The Focusing practitioner will ask you, at the start of the session, what issue or area of life you want to experience change in. You will not need to give details about your life situation. The Focusing practitioner will not be giving you any advice or analysis about your situation. This is your process.

  • You will be verbally helped to make deeper contact with your body awareness, and your overall sense of being supported and connected.

  • You will be guided to make contact with your bodily felt senses, which are doorways into fresh energy and new steps in your life.

  • You will be supported in experiencing a compassionate inner relationship with your emotional states and felt senses, which allows even the most stuck places to begin to shift and change.

What can I expect from the session?
There is a high likelihood that you will feel some kind of difference in the issue you worked on, after just one session, and many people experience a significant shift.

What’s next?
Depending on your situation, it is possible you may be able to continue working with IR Focusing on your own using a book or CD. However, most people who want to continue either have more sessions or sign up for a Level One Focusing course.

What if I want to have more sessions? Is it therapy or coaching?
You are welcome to have a series of sessions to enable you to experience the benefits of Focusing with support. Focusing guided sessions are not therapy or coaching (read more about the difference) but they can be therapeutic. You will be able to deepen your process and your inner relationship over a series of sessions.

More About Sessions:
Why have a Focusing session?
What are my choices?

Thanks for today's session.  Your approach felt so gentle, so tender, and at the same time, so minimal.  It was clear to me that I was not only in good hands, but working with someone who's spent years and years refining her craft.  It was just what I needed. I feel taken care of, excited and interested in going deeper. What I appreciate most is how respectful the process is of the ever-changing landscape of feelings.  Thank you.

I was amazed at how gentle [my first session] was and how peaceful I felt for weeks afterwards. I literally was unable to get a stress response going! I am so happy to have found a method and process that reassures and quiets my anxiety far beyond the session and also effortlessly facilitates access to my own inner wisdom.
